Six STEM Tweets - June 5 2024

Blueberries, pantone, emoticons and more

Six STEM Tweets

Six tweets that celebrate engineering and all things STEM.

I scroll so you don’t have to.

The elements of yesterday’s date - June 4 2024 - had a mathematical connection:

6 × 4 = 24

And thanks to the commutative property, it works even in other parts of the world (that use more logical structure to their dates)

4 × 6 = 24

Hit ‘reply’ and let me know if this is the right frequency - ~2x/week - and balance of topics.

And think of someone who might appreciate this information and forward this email to them. Let them know that they can sign-up too!

Let’s get more people hooked on STEM!

1648!

These “new fangled things” are centuries old!

I love learning about which screwdriver fits which berries. 😂

Next week on #SixSTEMTweets - which saw is best for cutting tomatoes…

I have heard of people padding their resumes with something similar. I know teachers putting booby traps in their assignments to detect when students use GenAI tools without permission.

This is the next step.

We definitely live in interesting times.

Pantone colors are the default method to specify colors for physical products. The goal is to have accurate, reproducible colors regardless of equipment used to produce the pigment.

The Wikipedia page - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pantone - has some really interesting details on their “color of the year” campaign and on their intellectual property claims

This is what the graph actually looks like. More like a stylish, floating staircase.

Some of the smartest, bravest folks of their generation!

That’s it for this issue.
